Show your Hands

Girl, let me tell you what Holy Spirit just dropped on me. Aight so boom, on Valentine’s Day, I went to Walgreens to buy a lil’ something for my son. I try to make sure he feels special on the day and truly, with him, it doesn’t take much. I found a sour candy heart stuffed with his favorite candy. Then I looked for a balloon. The thought was to tie the balloon around the box. I immediately had another thought! “Don’t spend that money on that balloon because he’s only going to destroy it!” I listened and I grabbed a much smaller balloon. You know, the ones on the plastic stick. I slid the balloon in an opening in the candy heart and went on about my day.

The next day, I’m in the kitchen cooking and I hear a noise. I immediately assumed he was on FaceTime on his ipad without asking permission. Before jumping to conclusions I asked, “what are you doing?” He runs to the kitchen and says, “ I was getting the helium out the balloon. I side eye him and smirk.

He asks, “are you mad?” I say, “nope, because I knew you were gonna do it and that’s exactly why I didn’t buy the more expensive balloon.” He asks, “are you sure?” I smile and nod, “yes, I’m sure.” Then he says, “the next time you buy me a balloon, I won’t destroy it until it’s already deflated.”

Now the good part! Holy Spirit said, “that’s how I feel about My children. I already know what you’re going to do, so I don’t get mad when you do something you think would disappoint Me.” He knows us, better than we know ourselves, so instead of hiding our hands, just show Him and allow His love to heal us.

As I’m typing this, He drops another part in my spirit. He says, “This is also why I can’t give you expensive things because you won’t know how to take care of it.” That “thing” we long for, He can’t trust us with it right now because we will misuse it. When we stop hiding our hands, show Him our mistakes and allow Him to heal us, He’s able to begin trusting us with more. That way, when He gives us the “expensive thing,” we are healed and whole and able to properly use it for God’s glory. (That includes the husband we’re praying and believing in Him to provide. God’s children are expensive too. He doesn’t want us to misuse them either…)

What thing are you hiding from God? What do you need to trust Him with so He can begin the healing process in you?
